Music

UUCDC recognizes the power of music as a ministry, a path to spiritual growth, both for the musicians and those who receive it. The music programming of the church helps to shape, build and proclaim the identity of the church community. Diversity, balance, variety and a full range of musical traditions and theologies are all hallmarks of music ministry at UUCDC. Our music ministry supports an inspiring, vibrant and innovative program for worship music that is spiritually fulfilling as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Music in Worship Opportunities

Our music program is made possible by many dedicated volunteers offering their talents and energy, for which the music staff is truly grateful. The Committee on Music Ministry, our Music Director, and our minister work together to plan the music for the year’s worship services.
Our Sunday morning worship services always include opportunities for church members and friends to share their musical talents by singing or playing their instruments.

The UUCDC Chorus serves to enhance the worship services and support the sermon's message. The Chorus rehearses weekly on Thursday nights from 7:30 – 9:00 pm, and sings at about two church services a month, usually at the 11:15 service. On those Sundays, rehearsals are held at 10:15. Twice a year, the Chorus presents a Special Musical Service. Singers of high school age or older are welcome to come and participate in the Chorus. If you would like further information about the Chorus, please contact our Music Director.

Volunteer in-house musicians and occasional guest musicians also provide music for our 9:30 worship services and about half of the 11:15 am services.
If you've been coming to UUCDC for any length of time, you've noticed we have an inspiring depth and breadth of musical talent among our membership. Your participation is most welcome. If you would like to be more involved, please fill out the Musician Registration Form.
