Mission Covenant of UUCDC
(Adopted by the congregation on October 19, 2003)
The mission of UUCDC is to provide a liberal religious community that encourages its members to seek ethical, moral and spiritual meaning. We act in fellowship to share our diversity and to give life to the Unitarian Universalist purposes and principles for the good of the greater community.
As members, we dedicate ourselves to fulfill this mission by expanding our efforts to:
- Provide religious services, a broad program of religious education and other activities that stimulate inquiry and the search for truth and value, inspire spiritual and intellectual growth, and foster reverence, caring and creative expression;
- Attract, accept and retain as members people who share the values of our Purposes and Principles, regardless of religious or cultural background, race, physical characteristics or sexual orientation;
- Develop a sense of community among ourselves; respecting diversity of belief, thought and lifestyle; strengthening individual well-being and empowering each other to serve in a collective ministry of mutual support;
- Provide opportunities and encouragement for meaningful involvement, personal growth, broad participation and leadership through our activities;
- Advance the growth of our denomination through involvement in and support for programs offered by the Unitarian Universalist Association and its affiliated organizations;
- Act to influence our larger community to address human needs, social justice, world peace, mutual understanding and the preservation of the natural environment; and
- Provide adequate facilities and the financial, human and material resources to support our mission.
