Aiding Transformation at Chester Eastside Inc.
By Ruth Hendry
Our community outreach partner Chester Eastside Inc. transforms people's lives in Chester City every day. The nonprofit reduces food insecurity by supplying food for more than 120,000 meals a year. It runs a day camp as well as an After School Program for children in Chester.
The church's Share the Plate program will benefit Chester Eastside (https://chestereastside.org) in April. In addition, there's still time to sign up to participate with the organization in the Walk Against Hunger at Lincoln Financial Field on April 8. And our own Dennis Lloyd is part of the nonprofit's new Technology Training Program that will train city high school students to prepare them for careers in information technology and to work with younger children in the after-school computer lab.
You can be part of transformation by attending the Gala Celebration on April 29 to honor the launch of The Reverend Bernice Warren Cultural Arts Program. Rev. Warren is the organization's former executive director. The gala will recognize her many years of the dedicated service and will welcome her successor, Rev. Zuline Gray Wilkinson. Tickets are $60 and available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chester-eastside-gala-celebration-tickets-32968242902.
Let's get a church table together to celebrate the work being done in Chester. If you cannot attend the gala, you and your family can donate to the gala program to benefit Chester Eastside. You can also stay informed about the exciting work being done by the organization through its newsletter. Just let our Bill Henderson know through the church office and he will add your name to the newsletter list. We work with Chester Eastside through the Social Justice & Outreach Ministry Team.
